The Red Queen's On Her Head (Alice in Wonderland) Earrings
The surface on these lightweight earrings is just large enough to show off Charles Robinson's stunning illustration of the "Off with Her Head," scene, from the 1907 edition of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland.
"The Queen turned crimson with fury, and, after glaring at her for a moment like a wild beast, screamed ‘Off with her head! Off —’ ‘Nonsense!’ said Alice, very loudly and decidedly, and the Queen was silent."
I've placed Alice on one side of the earring. On the other side, is the Red Queen, which I've placed on her head (my nod to the iconic Jefferson Airplane song, "Go Ask Alice.")
These earrings have a sterling swivel link so the wearer can decide which side of the earring they want to face forward. The body of earring is lightweight anodized aluminum, which I've patterned and then glazed with archival resin to provide environmental protection and a lightly reflective finish.
