Kandinsky Composition VIII Earrings

"Color is the keyboard, the eyes are the hammers, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key or another purposely, to cause vibrations in the soul." ~ Wassily Kandinsky, The Effect of Color, 1914

An art and/or music lover's dream. The imagery is inspired by Wassily Kandinsky's painting Composition VIII, painted in 1923 and currently housed at the Guggenheim. This painting has been described as a "synthesis of Russian abstraction paired with Kandinsky's own lyrical style." It reflects Kandinsky's lifelong love of music, which influenced his work throughout his career.

Our signature Petals to the Metal Earrings are shaped in beautiful, intricate clusters that are visually hard to miss, but surprisingly lightweight and comfortable. Cotton rag watercolor paper is hand-patterned using original acrylic films, cut and dapped to shape and then glazed with a glossy enamel finish. These pattern-centric petals are then set with anodized aluminum and layered to create shapes in varying lengths and sizes that are stunning from every angle. Each step of this intricate, hands-on process is performed entirely in-studio by Diana Ferguson, resulting in a true original. Petals to the Metal earrings are perfect for everyday wear or as an evening statement piece. Waterproof and UV-protected. DFJ earrings are handcrafted, and so minor variations in pattern may occur.
